AmEx Is Rated Top Credit Card Company Again and 2 Other Dow Movers to Watch

American Express Co. (NYSE:AXP): Current price $73.54

The annual nationwide study by J.D. Power says that for the seventh consecutive year, consumers rank American Express Co. the top in customer satisfaction among United States credit card companies. The study, released earlier Thursday, places American Express number-one in overall satisfaction among 11 of the largest card issuers in the country, being the only credit card to receive the study’s top ranking since it was first conducted in 2007.

The J.D. Power 2013 Credit Card Satisfaction Study examines six broad categories to determine overall satisfaction — Billing and Payment Process, Customer Interaction, Credit Card Terms, Rewards  Programs, Benefits and Services, and Problem Resolution.


Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT): Current price $83.91

In July, Caterpillar sales fell for the eighth straight month while worldwide sales dropped by 9 percent for the three months ending in July. The company’s sales has been trending lower since December of last year, impacted by tougher year-over-year comparisons and increasing inventories of unsold equipment.

Previously, Caterpillar had witnessed negative sales growth in April 2010, but since then enjoyed a period of positive growth, benefiting from strong demand for equipment both domestically and also in the emerging markets.


International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM): Current price $184.39
