As the U.S. financial markets recapture momentum heading into the afternoon, here the stocks experiencing movement or traction as analyst evaluate the underlying businesses in 2012:
Williams Companies, Inc. (NYSE:WMB): Morgan Stanley names Williams a long Research Tactical Idea. Morgan Stanley thinks growth is under appreciated, and likes the spin-off of Williams’ exploration and production business. The firm rates Williams Outperform with a target of $35.
SodaStream International Ltd. (NASDAQ:SODA): SodaStream announced strategic partnership with Kraft. Janney Capital feels SodaSteam’s (NASDAQ:SODA) partnership with Kraft Foods (NYSE:KFT) will create more consumer awareness for SodaStream’s carbonated drinks at home products. The firm maintains a Buy rating and target of $60.
IPG Photonics Corporation (NASDAQ:IPGP): DA Davidson sees a buy in weakness at IPG Photonics. IPG announced China revenues were in a 20 percent sequential decline, but DA Davidson found that laser bookings were “decent” in December, and the firm feels the company’s comment may have caused the stock to overreact. The firm continues IPG as its best pick for 2012.
Danaher Corp. (NYSE:DHR): Bernstein has Danaher is a top pick for 2012. Bernstein feels that Danaher is improving its portfolio, growing core revenues, and expanding margin. The firm expect upside earnings and rates DHR Outperform.
Progress Software Corp. (NASDAQ:PRGS): Needham says Progress Software has likely bottomed. For the February quarter, Progress issued weaker guidance than expected. Needham lowered target price from $25 to $21, but investors should still acquire the company reiterating a Buy rating.
CR Bard Inc. (NYSE:BCR): Goldman reiterates Sell for C.R. Bard and Zimmer. Goldman feels healthcare growth will remain sluggish through 2013, keeping pressure on U.S. medical device utilization. Goldman say estimates are too high as reiterates C.R. Bard (NYSE:BCR) and Zimmer (NYSE:ZMH) at a Sell rating.
