Are Microsoft’s Monster Stockholders Buying on the Heels of a Cloud Catalyst?

So far in 2012, Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) shares are up 11.88 percent. On Wednesday, the company announced a partnership with Taiwan’s Quanta Computer to design a Windows-based system to enable business customers to quickly start running on a private cloud. This will come from Microsoft’s Private Cloud Fast Track program. This works with hardware makers to either design private or on-premise cloud computing systems.

The Quanta system has servers, storage and network hardware, according to PCWorld, which will combine with Microsoft’s Windows Server, Hyper-V and other software. The companies will then design “pre-validated configurations” for customers to deploy.

With the Quanta partnership to expand Windows-based cloud computing, will Microsoft’s largest shareholders increase their holdings? 1562 institutional firms indicated owning shares of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) in Q1 2012. These firms reported owning a total of 4.322 billion shares on 03/31/2012 . The shares closed at $32.26 on 03/31/2012.
