BlackBerry Sells 2K Q10 Smartphones to Univision and 2 Other Hot Stocks to Watch

BlackBerry Ltd. (NASDAQ:BBRY): Current Price $10.48

BlackBerry and Univision Communications Inc. said Monday that the latter bought 2,000 BlackBerry Q10 smartphones through which to upgrade all corporate-issued BlackBerry smartphones, thus upgrading its entire mobile fleet. Beyond that, Univision now offers new BlackBerry 10 apps on the BlackBerry World storefront, according to a joint press release.


Tesla Motors Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA): Current price $171.65

Tesla shares are surging Monday as the company’s sales in California do the same. New data from the California New Car Dealers Association indicate that sales of Elon Musk’s electric car have exceeded Land Rover, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo, and Lincoln. In 2013, Tesla has sold 4,714 cars in California, compared to 4,586 for Porsche; 1,254 for Jaguar; 2,982 for Volvo; 4,022 for Land Rover; and 2,230 for Lincoln.


Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ:AMGN): Current price $114.65

Shares of Amgen are up close to 8.5 percent in morning trading, perhaps as a residual to news that the firm will acquire Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. in a transaction that will allow Amgen access to Onyx’s cancer-drug pipeline. Amgen will pay $125 per Onyx share in cash; the transaction is expected to close by the start of the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, shares of Onyx Pharmaceuticals were up about 5.5 percent, with both stocks trading at high volume.
