Boeing Co. (NYSE:BA): Boeing’s joint venture with Lockheed-Martin (NYSE:LMT), the United Launch Alliance, has won a $1.088 billion “Not-To-Exceed” letter contract to help fund the production of the new Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle, or EELV, from the Department of Defense, for launch aboard several Air Force and National Reconnaissance Organization launch vehicle configurations.
Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF): Steven Dentali has been named to the newly created role of Vice President of Botanical Sciences, where he will be tasked with being responsible for the company’s botanical ingredients, formulations and processes. Dentali has served a 22-year post-graduate career in the US herbal and dietary supplement industry, and was most recently the Chief Science Officer at the American Herbal Products Association.
Barnes & Noble (NYSE:BKS): The bookseller, with its quarterly losses still weighing on the shares, announces that it will not be filing its 10-K on time, due to a previously-announced accounting review that could lead to restatements. the company has also revisited its credit agreements with several banks, and the resulting amendments place limits and conditions on the company’s dividend payments and buyback activity.
New York Times Co. (NYSE:NYT): The New York Times is now accepting bids for the Boston Globe, which is estimated to bring down around $100 million — one tenth of the price it paid for the publication in 1993. The deal will include the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, as well as a printing business, but also involves a block of pension liabilities that could affect the price.
