Boeing, which is quite confident as to booking sales of its new 737 Max single-aisle jet at the Dubai Air Show, is looking to narrow Airbus SAS’s lead in that region in short-range planes. The 737 Max sports new engines to boost efficiency, and could win new Middle East customers, says sales Vice President Marty Bentrott, who observed that, “We have a number of key opportunities we are focused on here in the region.”
UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE:UNH): Current price $71.74
According to the Wall Street Journal, UnitedHealth has dropped thousands of doctors from its networks in recent weeks, causing lots of elderly patients to wonder whether to switch plans to continue seeing their doctors. The insurer reported in October that underfunding of Medicare Advantage plans for the elderly could not be fully outweighed by the firm’s other healthcare business. Besides that, the company also reported spending more healthcare premiums on medical claims in the third quarter, primarily because of government cuts to payments for Medicare Advantage services. The Journal report indicated that doctors in a minimum of 10 states were advised of being laid off the plans, some pointing to “significant changes and pressures in the healthcare environment.”
