BofA CONDUCTING Mortgage Help Conferences and 2 Heavily Traded Shares Moving the Market

Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC), Chase and Wells Fargo are among the national banks holding day-long conferences in which customers facing mortgage difficulties can talk with bank officials face-to-face to work on a fix for their problems.

Nokia Corporation‘s (NYSE:NOK) Lumia smartphones worked hard to raise the Finnish handset provider’s market share in China, while domestic vendors ZTE, Huawei Technologies and Lenovo passed Apple in smartphone shipments in the second quarter, Canalys found. Nokia, which used to dominate China’s smartphone market, premiered its new Lumia devices there in April, offering them with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.5 OS. But the new smartphones could not make up for the major swath of market share the company’s Symbian devices formerly had there, reported Nicole Peng, a research director at Canalys.

Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S) shares reached a 52-week high in the last week of July, and on July 30 kept the upward trend going, rising 4.6 percent. The new height comes following a sustained dip for the company. Sprint Nextel demonstrated a net loss for the second quarter of 2012 of $1.4 billion, or a diluted net loss of $0.46 per share, compared with a net loss of $847 million, or a diluted net loss of $0.28 per share in the comparable quarter of 2011.
