Cadillac Ensures New Escalade Will Keep the Bling Factor

Cadillac Escalade Interior

A lot will be riding on General Motors’ (NYSE:GM) new slate of big sport utility vehicles, from the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban to the range-topping king of bling, the Cadillac Escalade — next year will see the first major redesign of the family in several years. While the luxury people mover will undoubtably share many a component with its corporate siblings, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that the new Escalade will also be increasingly forming its own identity outside of GM’s SUV umbrella.

Cadillac has started the trickle of information regarding the new vehicle and has beefed up the 2015 Escalade’s webpage to reflect more specs that potential buyers can look forward to.

To begin, all models will offer a 420 horsepower, 6.2-liter beating heart that puts that power along with 460 pound-feet of torque through a six-speed transmission. However, Autoblog notes that around this power plant, there are three different trim options that buyers can opt for when designing their Escalade.

Each trim from the base on up will include a Cadillac spread of leather, heated and cooled front seats, a 12-inch dash cluster (reportedly configurable to the driver’s preferences), Bose-brand active noise cancellation, and Cadillac’s proprietary CUE infotainment system. Adaptive remote start, a hands-free tailgate, rear-view camera, park assist, Magnetic Ride Control, and 20-inch wheels come standard on the entry-level trim.

Upgrading to the Luxury line will add 22-inch wheels, “a reconfigurable, color head-up display, sunroof, power fold-and-tumble second row seating, Intellibeam headlights and a Driver Awareness Package with active crash-avoidance technology like Safety Alert Seat, lane departure warning and forward collision alert,” Autoblog reports.

A Driver Assist Package with Automatic Collision Preparation, automatic braking and adaptive cruise control, rear-seat entertainment, and added outside perks like illuminated door handles will be available as standard on the range-topping Premium trim.

While the interior is available in only black for the base range, the exterior can come in seven different flavors. However, if people are willing to throw some money at the options menu, more interior accents and options become available.
