United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX): Current price $87.85
The firm’s fourth-quarter profit soared by 55 percent as UTX benefited from gains on the divestiture of its legacy Hamilton Sundstrand’s Industrial units, although its costs increased decidedly. The company has posted improved profits recently, thanks to its $16.5 billion purchase of the aircraft-component maker Goodrich Corp., which closed in 2012.
