On Wednesday, the national nonprofit organization Citizen Schools, which works with middle schools to expand the learning day for underserved students, announced Cisco as a new National Leadership Partner. Cisco’s investments of talent and financial support will aid Citizen Schools in deepening its impact on student learning in New York, New Jersey, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Texas, as well as at the national level.

With the use of Cisco’s $650,000 investment, Citizen Schools will help middle school students succeed in high school, plan college and careers, and reach their full potentials.


Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT): Current price $33.26

Intellectual Ventures Management LLC, led by the former Microsoft chief technology officer of Nathan Myhrvold, is looking for $3 billion for a fund that would afford it steady cash flow from patents and invention rights, reported an investor presentation obtained by Bloomberg News. It also indicated that Invention Investment Fund III will acquire patents, patent licensing rights, and applications, together with other invention rights. The firm was founded in 2000 and has historically made some of its income from suing over patent infringements.

The biggest home improvement retailer on the planet announced Wednesday that its Chairman and Chief Executive Frank Blake and Executive Vice President, U.S. Stores, Marvin Ellison, will present at the Goldman Sachs Twentieth Annual Global Retailing Conference in New York. The presentation will start at 11:20 a.m. Eastern Time on September 11.
