Coca-Cola Launches Its 43rd Facility in China and 2 Other Dow Movers to Watch

On Thursday, Chairman and Chief Executive Muhtar Kent of The Coca-Cola Company inaugurated Coca-Cola China’s 43rd plant in China and its first in Shijiazhuang, Hebei. The new facility represents a $106-million investment, and forms part of a greater three-year, $4 billion current investment plan for 2012-2014 that emphasizes Coca-Cola’s continued confidence in and commitment to that country. The 170,000-square-meter plant will commence bottling with both sparkling and still beverage lines producing Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, and Minute Maid.


Merck & Co. Inc. (NYSE:MRK): Current price $46.34

Merck has provided an overview of the clinical trial program for V503, its investigational 9-valent human papillomavirus vaccine, to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices in the United States. The company said that the pivotal efficacy trial is finished, the primary endpoints have been attained, and it expects to submit a Biologics License Application for V503 to the FDA this year. The study examined the efficacy, immunogenicity and safety of V503 in females between 16 and 26 years of age.


The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIS): Current price $68.97

Local Russian media reports that Disney is planning to debut retail stores in that country, according to Hollywood Reporter, which also said that the company expects to open and operate three Disney Stores in Moscow and St Petersburg late next year.
