Coinstar Shares Climbing After Bullish Review

Video rental company Coinstar (NASDAQ:CSTR) shares are seeing an uptick after Barron’s ran a story that the shares might appreciate as much as 40%.

According to Barron’s, Coinstar, which runs the popular Redbox video rental kiosks, may stick around longer than people think, even considering the looming competition from streaming services on cable and over the Internet. Far from rolling over to die, Coinstar is in fact making the most of Netflix’ (NASDAQ:NFLX) pre-occupation with international operations and streaming video, and the recently gone bust Blockbuster. The Redbox offering of movie rentals at just $1.20 a night is unmatched value and assures returning customers.

The icing on the cake, perhaps, is Coinstar’s rumored tie-up with Verizon (NYSE:VZ) to launch an online video service that could feature both streaming and downloading over a multitude of devices. This could also provide a kicker for the stock.
