Consumer Stocks in Trading Spotlight After Earnings

Beazer Homes USA Inc. (NYSE:BZH) reported a loss in the second quarter as its quarterly loss narrowed helped by rising revenue. Loss narrowed to $39.9 million (loss of 48 cents per diluted share) from $53.8 million (loss of 73 cents per share) in the same quarter a year earlier. Revenue rose 52.4% to $191.6 million from the year-earlier quarter. Beazer Homes USA Inc. beat the mean analyst estimate of a loss of 41 cents per share. Analysts were expecting revenue of $192.5 million.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. (NYSE:CTB) reported net income above Wall Street’s expectations for the first quarter. Net income for Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. rose to $21.6 million (34 cents per share) vs. $15.7 million (25 cents per share) in the same quarter a year earlier. This marks a rise of 37.6% from the year-earlier quarter. Revenue rose 9.1% to $984.3 million from the year-earlier quarter. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. beat the mean analyst estimate of 30 cents per share. Analysts were expecting revenue of $999 million.

Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRMN) reported its results for the first quarter. Net income for Garmin Ltd. fell to $86.9 million (44 cents per share) vs. $95.5 million (49 cents per share) a year earlier. This is a decline of 9% from the year-earlier quarter. Revenue rose 9.6% to $556.6 million from the year-earlier quarter. Garmin Ltd. beat the mean analyst estimate of 41 cents per share. It beat the average revenue estimate of $525.4 million.

HSN Inc. (NASDAQ:HSNI) reported net income above Wall Street’s expectations for the first quarter. Net income for HSN Inc. rose to $26.2 million (44 cents per share) vs. $20.3 million (34 cents per share) in the same quarter a year earlier. This marks a rise of 29% from the year-earlier quarter. Revenue rose 5.2% to $747.3 million from the year-earlier quarter. HSN Inc. reported adjusted net income of 50 cents per share. By that measure, the company beat the mean estimate of 37 cents per share. Analysts were expecting revenue of $747.1 million.
