Delta Will Use Nokia Lumia 820s for Onboard Communication and 2 Other Hot Stocks to Watch

Over the weekend, it was reported that Delta Air Lines will allow more than 19,000 flight attendants to use Windows Phone 8 enabled devices for quicker and smoother onboard communication. However, the change will also provide improved services for flyers.

The use of Lumia 820s from Nokia will aid the Delta flight staff in offering passengers fast credit card processing when they buy something in-flight. In addition, customers may take advantage of the facility to upgrade to Economy Comfort seating while on board. What is more, the Delta plans to extend customer-specific information to the attendants for enhanced customized services. These devices will be linked through Wi-Fi on AT&T’s 4G network.

Ford has announced that it is collaborating with the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University in Russia’s old imperial capital on a three-year project to study how robots communicate in space. This endeavor forms part of an ongoing effort by Ford, along with other firms in the industry, to develop smart networks among vehicles, traffic lights, and other parts of the road so as to help avert auto accidents. Other goals for networks such as that include speeding up emergency response times and easing traffic congestion.


Avanir Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVNR): Current price $5.30

On Monday, Avanir announced the publication of the findings from the PRISM patient registry in PLOS ONE, which is a worldwide, peer-reviewed, open-access medical journal. PRISM was the biggest registry ever conducted with which to further understand prevalence and the impact of pseudobulbar affect in the United States. PRISM investigators have enrolled 5,290 patients having six common neurologic conditions frequently associated with PBA.

Over one-third of enrolled patients indicated a CNS-LS score ≥13, suggesting PBA symptoms and the impact of the patients’ neurological condition on quality of life was significantly higher (worse) in these persons.
