Disney Studios to Make Artemis Fowl into Feature Film and 2 Other Dow Movers to Watch

Walt Disney Studios and the Weinstein Company announced that the young adult fantasy book series Artemis Fowl, which is about a 12-year-old millionaire criminal mastermind, will be made into a feature film. The movie will cover the first two books in the series, and will be adapted by Michael Goldenberg, the screenwriter of the book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. A release date for the so far untitled film has not been reported.


International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM): Current price $196.86

IBM is stepping up its Linux on Power initiative, using a new high-performance PowerLinux server, together with new software and middleware applications designed for the increasing number of clients accepting big data, analytics, and next generation Java applications in an open cloud environment. The new PowerLinux 7R4 server, created on the same Power Systems platform running IBM’s Watson cognitive computing solution, can give clients the performance needed for the new business-critical and data-intensive workloads increasingly deployed in Linux environments.


E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. (NYSE:DD): Current price $57.72

DuPont has declared a third quarter common stock dividend of 45 cents per share, payable September 12, to stockholders of record as of August 15.  This new dividend is the same as the amount paid in the second quarter, and marks the 436th consecutive quarterly dividend since the firm’s first dividend in the fourth quarter of 1904.
