Disney’s ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Beats the Box Office and 2 Other Dow Movers to Watch

Disney’s Thor: The Dark World was dominant at the box office this past weekend. The second offering in the God of Thunder franchise from Walt Disney’s Marvel Studios grossed an estimated $86.1 million in North America, debuting domestically after an international launch that takes its worldwide total to $327 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ): Current price $94.10
The Wall Street Journal said on Sunday that Johnson & Johnson has stopped selling a number of its products via Amazon.com Inc. since it believes that the latter was not acting in a sufficient manner to disallow third-party merchants from selling damaged or expired J&J merchandise. Citing knowledgeable persons, the newspaper said that J&J has resumed selling some of the items on Amazon.com, but that disputes have not yet been fully settled.
McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE:MCD): Current price $97.04
On Monday, McDonald’s said that sales at stores open a minimum of a year rose by 0.5 percent worldwide in October. Regionally, sales increased by 0.2 percent in the domestic market, 0.8 percent in the European market, but fell by 2.8 percent in the Asia/Middle East/Africa markets. The fast-food colossus has been experiencing tougher rivalry in recent years, and has taken measures to rebrand itself as a restaurant selling more than only burgers and fries.
