Earnings Post Game Report: 3 Key Utilities Companies

TECO Energy Inc. (NYSE:TE) reported its results for the fourth quarter. Net income for the electric utilities company fell to $53.2 million (25 cents per share) vs. $56.7 million (26 cents per share) a year earlier. This is a decline of 6.2% from the year earlier quarter. Revenue fell 3.2% to $750.2 million from the year earlier quarter. TECO Energy Inc. fell short of the mean analyst estimate of 28 cents per share. It fell short of the average revenue estimate of $844.9 million.

AGL Resources Inc. (NYSE:GAS) reported higher profit for the first quarter as revenue showed growth. Net income for AGL Resources Inc. rose to $130 million ($1.11 per share) vs. $124 million ($1.59 per share) in the same quarter a year earlier. This marks a rise of 4.8% from the year-earlier quarter. Revenue rose 59.9% to $1.4 billion from the year-earlier quarter. AGL Resources Inc. fell short of the mean analyst estimate of $1.32 per share. It beat the average revenue estimate of $886 million.

NiSource Inc. (NYSE:NI) posted a decrease in profit as revenue declined. et income for NiSource Inc. fell to $193.4 million (66 cents per share) vs. $209.5 million (73 cents per share) a year earlier. This is a decline of 7.7% from the year-earlier quarter. Revenue fell 25.7% to $1.66 billion from the year-earlier quarter. NiSource Inc. fell short of the mean analyst estimate of 72 cents per share. It fell short of the average revenue estimate of $2.1 billion.
