Results: Net income for the industrial equipment and components company rose to $761 million ($1.01 per share) vs. $749 million (98 cents per share) in the same quarter a year earlier. This marks a rise of 1.6% from the year earlier quarter.

Revenue: Rose 12% to $6.54 billion from the year earlier quarter.

Actual vs. Wall St. Expectations: EMR reported adjusted net income of 98 cents per share. By that measure, the company beat the mean estimate of 97 cents per share. Analysts were expecting revenue of $6.6 billion.

The company has now seen net income rise in three straight quarters. In the third quarter, net income rose 16.8% and in the second quarter, the figure rose 37.3%.

Revenue has risen the past four quarters. Revenue increased 11.5% to $6.29 billion in the third quarter. The figure rose 13.8% in the second quarter from the year earlier and climbed 10.5% in the first quarter from the year-ago quarter.

The company beat estimates last quarter after being in line with expectations in the third quarter with net income of 90 cents per share.

Looking Forward: The outlook for the company’s results in the upcoming quarter is unfavorable. The average estimate for the first quarter of the next fiscal year is 74 cents per share, down from 81 cents ninety days ago. For the fiscal year, the average estimate has moved down from $3.27 a share to $3.24 over the last ninety days.
