Verizon Communications’s (NYSE:VZ) deal with cable companies is the topic of a letter from seven House Democrats (including two of the party’s most senior members) to regulators, warning that it might undermine competition. This is according to The Hill. Shares of Verizon traded up $0.4 (0.93%) recently at $43.39.

Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE:XOM) and partner Statoil (NYSE:STO) have found a large gas discovery in the Statoil-operated Block 2 license in Tanzania. Logging results from the Lavani well verify an original high-impact discovery for Statoil, with an early resource estimate of 3 trillion cubic feet of gas in place. This well has found 95 meters of excellent quality reservoir sandstone with high porosity and permeability. Shares of Exxon traded up $0.76 (0.94%) recently at $81.39.
