Facebook Mobile Ads Shine While Desktop Ads Decline and 4 Social Media Stocks See Action

Facebook, Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) Q3 results reflected a great deal of growth in their mobile ad revenue along with a fall in their desktop ad revenue. Mobile ad revenue reached $152 million during the quarter, meaning that desktop ad revenue reached $933 million.  This makes the first time there’s been a contraction in their desktop ad revenue since they began to publicly report the data, besides the seasonal shrinkage in Q1.

LinkedIn Corporation (NYSE:LNKD) uncovered new profiles last week and have created wonderful news f0r BlackBerry owners via a new app. The BlackBerry app was originally neglected, considering that Android and iOS continue to be the main mobile platforms. As of now, it has a ration of only two stars in the app marketplace, but the new app is available for users running BB6 and BB7.

Groupon, Inc. (NASDAQ:GRPN): Crazeal, which is the Indian arm of Groupon, completed its first year of operations in India.

Zynga, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZNGA) has fired over 100 employees, including the majority of the staff of their Austin office, and there will be even more terminations. Additionally, many accused the company of trying to do this covertly by executing the order during an Apple press event. Ex-employees claim they were given only two hours to clean out their workspaces prior to being pushed out the door. The story quickly spread across the social media, and ended up gaining additional attention than the Apple event anyway.

Yelp, Inc. (NYSE:YELP): Blue Calyps filed a patent infringement complaint against Yelp Inc. and IZEA, Inc. claiming it infringed upon Blue Calypso’s United States Patent Nos. 7,664,516 and 8,155,679. Both patents pertain to the system for peer-to-peer advertising that was developed by Blue Calypso. Recently, Blue Calypso filed similar complaints against Groupon and Living Social as an attempt to protect the innovative digital marketing platform, which is the core of the company’s business.
