A Look Back: In the third quarter, profit fell 52.7% to $8.9 million (9 cents a share) from $18.8 million (22 cents a share) the year earlier, meeting analyst expectations. Revenue fell 7.6% to $243 million from $263 million.
On the top line, the company is looking to get back on the right track after last quarter’s drop snapped a string of revenue increases. Revenue rose 25.7% in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year, 9.8% in the first quarter and 0.2%in the second quarter before dropping in the third quarter.
An income boost this time around would be welcome news after profit drops in the past three quarters. Net income fell 47% in the first quarter, by 82.5% in the second quarter and again in the third quarter.
Stock Price Performance: Between March 9, 2012 and June 5, 2012, the stock price fell $5.51 (-29%), from $18.97 to $13.46. The stock price saw one of its best stretches over the last year between February 10, 2012 and February 17, 2012, when shares rose for six straight days, increasing 6.5% (+$1.43) over that span. It saw one of its worst periods between November 16, 2011 and November 25, 2011 when shares fell for seven straight days, dropping 17.5% (-$3.55) over that span.
