Ford Dumps Product Line, Toyota Production Update

Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F) is ending U.S. sales of Ranger — the former mid-size pickup leader. General Motors Co. (NYSE:GM) has committed to the Chevrolet Colorado compact truck past the 2012 model year. Chrysler Group LLC is weighing whether to replace its defunct Dakota that it stopped building in August.

Based on parts availability, Toyota’s (NYSE:TM) North American vehicle plants will continue operating on a normal production schedule the weeks of Nov. 28 and Dec. 5, including overtime. With healthy inventory levels at dealerships leading into the annual Toyotathon year-end sales event, Toyota is well positioned to achieve its fourth quarter sales objectives. Decisions regarding future production schedules will be made based on an ongoing assessment of the parts supply situation.
