Ford Lowers 2014 Focus Electric Price by 10% and 2 More Heavily Traded Stocks to Follow

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F): Current price $16.74

Ford says that it will cut 10 percent off the price for its 2014 Focus Electric compact car, as it will hit the stores soon, and the base model has a price tag of $35,200. That figure already reflects a reduction of $4,000 from the 2013 model’s base price of $39,200. The purpose of this latest cut is to help Ford be more competitive in the electric passenger vehicles segment. Since the intro of the Focus, the iconic automaker has built 2,517 Focus electric cars, and marketed about 1,593 vehicles. In the first half of this year, the company sold 900 Focus Electric vehicles.


Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ): Current price $25.15

HP’s board has declared a regular cash dividend of 14.52 cents per share on the firm’s common stock. The dividend will mark the fourth in HP’s fiscal year 2013, and is payable on October 2 to stockholders of record, as of the close on September 11. The company has roughly 1.9 billion shares of common stock outstanding.


Hologic Inc. (NASDAQ:HOLX): Current price $21.64

The maker of cervical cancer and breast biopsy tools has announced that Chief Executive Robert Cascella stepped down for personal reasons, and will be replaced by former Chairman and Chief Executive Jack Cumming. Cumming was CEO of Hologic from 2001 to 2009, and chairman from 2002 through 2007, and again from 2008 to 2011, according to a Friday company statement. The firm also said that it will post third quarter adjusted earnings of 38 cents a share, 1 cent less than the average estimate of 19 analysts compiled by Bloomberg. Hologic will release its full results on August 5.
