Former FDA Commissioner to Join J&J Board and 2 Other Dow Movers to Watch

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ): Current price $89.27

J&J announced Monday that Mark B. McClellan, M.D., Ph.D., Senior Fellow in Economic Studies, and Director of the Initiative on Value and Innovation in Health Care, Brookings Institution will join its Board of Directors on Tuesday. McClellan will serve on the Regulatory, Compliance & Government Affairs Committee and the Science, Technology & Sustainability Committee of the Board. He was the former commissioner of the FDA from 2002 to 2004, and the former administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the United States Department of Health and Human Services from 2004 to 2006.


UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE: UNH): Current price $74.17

Moody’s Investors Service has affirmed the senior debt rating at A3 and the insurance financial strength rating of UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company at A1, and also changed the rating outlook from negative to stable, thanks to positive developments one year following the announced purchase of Amil Participacoes S.A. in Brazil. Moody’s said that the change in UnitedHealth Group’s rating outlook was due to the reduction in financial leverage since the acquisition of Amil, together with the solid operating  results at Amil.


Chevron Corp. (NYSE:CVX): Current price $118.01

This week, Chevron will try to convince a United States judge that a group of Ecuadorean villagers and their American attorney employed bribery to win an $18-billion judgment against the oil company from a court in Ecuador in the latest phase in a long-running dispute over pollution in the Amazon jungle. In a trial starting on Tuesday, Chevron is requesting a federal court in New York to disallow the villagers and their lawyer, Steven Donziger, from using American courts to enforce the Ecuadorean judgment.
