Former JPMorgan Trader Loses Extradition Fight and 2 Other Dow Movers to Watch

The Supreme Court of Spain has turned down an attempt by the former JPMorgan trader Javier Martin-Artajo to avoid extradition to the United States. Martin-Artajo’s attorneys had sought a ruling suspending a cabinet decision permitting his extradition case to proceed to court, contending that under a 1985 law he can’t be sent abroad because he is a Spanish national. However, according to a copy of the ruling transmitted by the tribunal by email on Thursday, the Court rejected the request and ordered the proceedings to move forward, Bloomberg reports.


United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX): Current price $106.87

United Technologies’s UTC Aerospace Systems has delivered its 5,000th nacelle system for a V2500 engine made by IAE International Aero Engines AG. The nacelle was delivered from Hamburg, Germany, and is one of more than a dozen world sites that comprise UTC Aerospace Systems’s aerostructures division. The nacelle and engine will be installed on an Airbus A321. The aerostructures unit has been the exclusive supplier of nacelle systems for the V2500 since the nacelle program’s inception.


Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT): Current price $76.95

Wal-Mart on Thursday announced three new manufacturing projects by suppliers in the United States in order to produce footwear, curtains, and glassware as part of a broader commitment to “Buy American.” The retailer’s U.S. president and CEO, Bill Simon, made the announcement with Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker at SelectUSA, which is a two-day event created to foster investment and job creation in the United States. President Barack Obama, Trade Representative Michael Froman, and other government officials will also speak at the SelectUSA conference.
