On Tuesday, GE Intelligent Platforms said that it has been collaborating with the Georgia Tech Research Institute, in order to help build on the understanding of neurological injuries that can sometimes occur in soldiers injured by improvised explosive devices. At the center of the solution are GE’s commercial off-the-shelf Rugged Systems, created to lower costs, length of time to delivery, and program risk, which constitute the three key requirements for GTRI. GE was able to supply a preconfigured, pre-validated, pre-tested COTS Rugged System within weeks of the initial request from GTRI, providing a significant time-saving and cost-saving system, when compared with GTRI developing a similar system on its own.
