Facebook, Inc. (NASDAQ:FB): According to the Wall Street Journal, Facebook Inc.’s problematic initial public offering last May is becoming a potential legal mess for the social-networking firm, their investment bankers and the exchange where they went public. Lawyers involved in the cases have said that approximately 50 lawsuits have been filed against Facebook, Nasdaq OMX Group (NASDAQ:NDAQ) and underwriters of the IPO. In addition to this, Facebook investors said that they expect hundreds of arbitration claims to be launched against brokers and securities firms that pushed their shares.
LinkedIn Corporation (NYSE:LNKD): LinkedIn Corporation continues cementing their status as the top social media platform for business professionals. On Monday, the team announced the introduction of Endorsements. With this new feature, members have the opportunity to vouch for their favorite peers by endorsing the skills and expertise listed on their profiles, or suggesting ones that the latter may not have thought of adding. Unlike recommendations, which require members to write testimonials, endorsements are done with a couple of easy clicks.

Groupon, Inc. (NASDAQ:GRPN): Over the recent months, Groupon Inc. has sought to expand their core daily deal business. They have a number of new business propositions, including a mobile payment system. In addition to this, the online coupon purveyor is moving into restaurant reservations. They stated that they recently acquired Savored, an Internet start-up that offers customers a way to reserve restaurant tables in ten cities across the country. Terms were not yet disclosed.
Zynga, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZNGA): Paul Pierce has his eyes on another title, except this time, he won’t have to go through LeBron and the Heat to win it all. His toughest opponent actually might be one of the most famous rappers ever. Zynga, Inc., (the makers of “Farmville,” “Zynga Poker” and “Words with Friends”), announced the first “Words With Friends” Celebrity Challenge, which begins Thursday and runs through Oct. 3.
Yelp, Inc. (NYSE:YELP): On October 10, the New York Stock Exchange (NYS: NYX), Accion and Yelp will bring the NYSE, “Big Start Up, Small Business Connections, Marketing Meets Micro-financing” nationwide workshop tour to New Orleans. The event will provide local small business owners with two resources that are vital to growing any business, social media marketing know-how and access to capital. New Orleans marks the eighth stop on the Small Business Connections Tour. During the free workshop, Yelp’s Manager of Local Business Outreach, Darnell Holloway, will explain how entrepreneurs can work with major social media platforms, engage customers online and navigate the world of online reviews.
