In May 2011, hedge funds earned a net of $8.1 billion, making last month the sixth in a row to witness positive flows. Net flows for the first five months of 2011 currently total $113.8 billion.
However, total assets fell to $1.82 trillion after a 1.24% loss in portfolios when global economic fears led to a 2.52% drop in the MSCI World Index (TSE:XWD).
Asian hedge funds has net inflows of $1.6 billion last month, bringing their total assets to $134.3 billion, with Japanese assets rising to $16 billion for the first time since 2008.
