Here’s How Many Cars Big Three Car Makers Sold

Though General Motors Co. (NYSE:GM) and Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) U.S. deliveries increased it was less than the 6.6 percent analysts’ estimated for each, and Honda Motor Co., dropped 0.5 percent with deliveries falling to 98,333, after analysts predicted an increase.

GM’s (NYSE:GM) Buick, Cadillac and GMC brands all posted declines and Chevrolet sales rose 6 percent. GM estimates a 13.7 million industry sales rate for October, including medium-duty and heavy-truck deliveries. Deliveries of the new Chrysler Durango SUV surged to 3,864 from 58 a year earlier, the company said today in a regulatory filing. After missing out on an estimated 200,000 deliveries since Japan’s tsunami in March, Honda (NYSE:HMC) may lose U.S. and Canadian output through late December because of parts shortages caused by Thailand’s floods. Though GM is offering $5,505 and interest-free financing to some buyers of 2011 model-year Silverado pickups, gas prices may account for some of the issue with selling big trucks. Prices averaged more than $3.50 from March through August and shot up this year to $3.99.

“October light-vehicle sales, being released today, may have risen to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 13.2 million, the average estimate of 14 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. The pace, which dipped below 12 million in May and June after Japan’s tsunami disrupted Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE:TM) and Honda (NYSE:HMC) output, may now be challenged due to floods in Thailand,” according to Bloomberg.
