First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) and NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NRG) have signed an agreement for First Solar to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for NRG Energy’s 66 megawatt Alpine solar project in Lancaster, Calif.

First Solar will use its advanced thin film photovoltaic (PV) modules for the project. They will also provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services.

Construction is slated to begin before year’s end and is should be completed in the third quarter of 2012. During the course of the project, it is expected to create an estimated 250 jobs.
