Here’s why Madison Square Garden and These Popular Stocks are Buzzing Now

Shares of Madison Square Garden Inc. (NASDAQ:MSG) were up 11% Monday, after news that the NBA lockout ended November 26.

There was news that there will be a 66-game NBA season beginning Dec. 25 after a lockout by the league’s owner’s ended. The company owns the MSG cable network, as well as the NBA’s New York Knicks.

“Morgan Stanley analyst Benjamin Swinburne told clients Monday that the NBA’s return is an “incremental positive” for Madison Square Garden, though the likelihood of increased revenue sharing for big-market teams like the Knicks could offset the fact that players will receive a smaller share of league dollars,” according to MarketWatch.
