How The Jersey Shore’s “Situation” Makes Millions
MTV’s (VIA-B) smash hit The Jersey Shore has created a sea of cash. The show is bringing the youth television channel the “best ratings the network has seen in seven years.”
But Sumner Redstone isn’t the only guy cashing big checks. The show’s character Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is estimated to make over $5 million this year. Here’s how he’ll do it:
$60,000: The amount of loot Mike Sorrentino pulls in per episode of The Jersey Shore.
$15,000 to $50,000: The cost to see Mike’s abs live at your event. The Situation is rumored to have $1 million in event billings this year.
175,000: Number of Twitter followers to buy Situation branded anything.
6-figure Advance: Gotham Books payout for the autobiography “Here’s the Situation”.
6-figure Payday Plus Equity: An unnamed Vodka brand wants more “Situations” buying girls shots at the club.
Mega-Millions: The remainder of Mike’s cash horde from endorsement deals with Vitaminwater (KO), Reebok, GNC, Dilligaf, his own fitness video, a “GTL” [Gym, Tan, Laundry] app, and a rap song on iTunes (AAPL).
Now that’s quite an ROI on 15-minutes of fame!
