Huff Post Launches Magazine and 3 Media Giants Making Waves
AOL, Inc. (NYSE:AOL): Last night The New York Times reported that AOL’s Huffington post will be launching a weekly digital news magazine tomorrow which will be available through Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Apple Store only.
Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE:TWC): The Justice Department has began a broad antitrust investigation into if cable companies may behave improperly in order to restrain online video competition. DoJ officials have spoken with a number of online video providers, including Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA), Time Warner Cable, and others about data caps and other issues.
CBS Corporation (NYSE:CBS): The Wall Street Journal reports that both CBS and ABC (NYSE:DIS) have wrapped up their ad sales negotiations for this coming TV season, which wins higher ad rates. CBS received nearly 2.7B in ad commitments, not much higher than last year’s $3.65B. ABC received approximately $2.5B in ad commitments. The shares traded down $0.67 (2.06%) recently at $31.79.
News Corp. (NASDAQ:NWSA): The Telegraph reports, Deputy PM Nick Clegg continuously confronts PM David Cameron demanding that Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt go under an independent investigation into if he deceived Parlaiment over his use of the News Corp.’s bid to own British Sky Broadcasting (NASDAQ:BSYBY).
