In light of the spate of quarterly earnings reports that have been released recently, I decided to take a quick look at some companies that pay out high dividends to investors:

  • The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG): Dividend yield: 3.3%. Payout ratio: 51%.  About the company:  The Procter & Gamble Company manufactures and markets consumer products in countries throughout the world.  The Company provides products in the laundry and cleaning, paper, beauty care, food and beverage, and health care segments.  Procter & Gamble’s products are sold primarily through mass merchandisers, grocery stores, membership club stores, drug stores, and neighborhood stores.  Its competitors include: Church & Dwight (NYSE:CHD), Colgate-Palmolive Company (NYSE:CL), The Clorox Company (NYSE:CLX), Teva Pharmaceutical Inc. (NASDAQ:TEVA), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), Kimberly-Clark Corporation (NYSE:KMB), The Stephan Co. (SPCO), CCA Industries, Inc. (AMEX:CAW), and Zep, Inc. (NYSE:ZEP).
  • Enterprise Products Partners, LP (NYSE:EPD): Dividend yield: 5.5%.  Payout ratio: 199%. About the company: Enterprise Products Partners, LP provides processing and transportaiton services to producers and consumers of natural gas liquids.  The Company generally processes products that are ultimately used as feedstocks in petrochemical manufacturing, in the production of motor gasoline, and as fuel for residential and commercial heating.  Its competitors include: Duncan Energy Partners (NYSE:DEP), Enterprise Group Holdings LP (EPE), Kinder Morgan, Inc.   • United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX):  Dividend yield: 2.3%.  Payout ratio: 36%.  About the company: United Technologies Corporation provides technology products and support services to customers in the aerospace and building industries worldwide.  The Company’s products include aircraft engines, elevators and escalators, heating and air conditioning equipment, helicopters, aerospace systems, fuel cell systems, and fire and safety equipment.  Its competitors include: Honeywell International, Inc. (NYSE:HON), General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE), The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA), Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE:NOC), Triumph Group, Inc. (NYSE:TGI), Esterline Technologies Corp.   • Omega Healthcare Investors, Inc. (NYSE:OHI): Dividend yield: 6.2%.  Payout ratio: 263%.  OMEGA Healthcare Investors, Inc. is a real estate investment trust.  The Company invests in and provides financing to the long-term care industry.  OMEGA operates healthcare facilities in the United States which are operated by independent healthcare operating companies.  Its competitors include National Health Investments (NYSE:NHI), Medical Properties Trust (NYSE:MPW), Healthcare Realty Trust (NYSE:HR), HCP, Inc.
