Intel Throws a Thunderbolt

Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) recently notified its partners it will fully release its Thunderbolt technology in April of 2012. Several first-tier PC players are already preparing to launch Thunderbolt-supported motherboards, notebooks and desktop PCs, according to PC player sources.

To speed up standardization of Thunderbolt, Intel is cooperating with Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), currently the sole vendor with PC products featuring Thunderbolt technology. Since demand for the technology has grown, Intel feels ready to release the technology for public use.

Currently, Sony (NYSE:SNE) is expected to adopt Thunderbolt technology into its product lines, and Asustek Computer is expected to adopt the technology for their high-end notebook products.
