J.C. Penney’s Latest Promo, Barnes & Noble Gains From Apple Pricing: Consumer Business Report

Energy drink seller Monster Beverage Corp. (NASDAQ:MNST) shares slide again on Tuesday as worries about lawsuits and a potential FDA inquiry create a dark cloud for the company. Not particularly helpful at this time was the stock’s removal from Goldman Sachs’ Conviction Buy.

J.C. Penney & Co. (NYSE:JCP) brings out another promotion, this time an offer to take family photos for free during November. The historic retailer has struggled to get its lost store traffic back with its bold plan to transform itself and several rival department stores have been imitating its shops concept but without the hoopla and radical product line changes.

IMAX Corporation (NASDAQ:IMAX) reaches an agreement with three separate European theater to assist it in adding more of its large-screen venues. The firm’s expansion in China is still performing well, keeping it on an aggressive worldwide growth track, while penetration rates in regions other than the United States and Canada remain below 20 percent.

Shares of Barnes & Noble (NYSE:BKS) are popping as investors note that Apple will start iPad Mini pricing at $329 while the former’s new 7-inch Nook HD sells between $199 and $229 and the 9-inch Nook HD+ goes in a range of $269 and $299. Texas Instruments (NYSE:TXN) currently provides processors for both lines and could thus indirectly benefit from the Mini’s pricing as would Nvidia Corporation, whose processors are in the Nexus 7 and other Android tablets.
