Groupon Inc. (NASDAQ:GRPN): Current price $9.76

Groupon shares are down about 8.5 percent on Tuesday, at one point tripping Nasdaq’s short-sale circuit breaker, subsequent to an analyst report warning of a slide in domestic gross billings. Analyst Steve Weinstein at ITG Investment Research wrote that, “September’s domestic trends for GRPN slowed significantly on the heels of a weak August. We believe there is risk to third-quarter domestic gross billings estimates.” The analyst forecast a reduction in third-quarter billings from the previous quarter and a low 20-percent year-on-year growth.

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE:FCX): Current price $36.21

Freeport posted better-than-anticipated third-quarter results on Tuesday, driven by recently purchased oil and gas operations, causing shares to move up by 3 percent. The beat was in the face lower metals prices that pressed on earnings. Analyst Garrett Nelson at BB&T Capital Markets remarked, “A very big quarter for them. The beat was mainly driven by the oil and gas segment, where sales, realizations, and production costs all came in better than what we had estimated.”
