DuPont said that it will divest its glass-laminating and vinyls arm to Japan’s Kuraray Co Ltd at a price of $543 million, as part of its strategy to shift its concentration to agriculture, alternative energy and specialty materials. The DuPont business manufactures resins used in windshields and industrial products, and will give the synthetic fiber maker Kuraray access to inexpensive American natural gas, a crucial raw material, according to an analyst. The sale of the business should close in the first half of next year.
