Jim Carrey is into the funny business when it comes to everything but gratuity. The actor dined at Chester, a restaurant in New York City’s Meatpacking District with a few friends. He and his pals drummed up a $151 bill … and Carrey pulled a generous move by leaving a $225 tip. He reportedly had been to the restaurant earlier that week to spend time in their Biergarten and liked the atmosphere.
Justin Bieber is One of the Best Celebrity Tippers (Plus, Our List of the 4 Worst)
Picture this: Rachel Ray walks into the restaurant you wait tables at. By sheer luck, she’s seated in your section. Not only would you be starstruck at the opportunity to serve Ray her food, you’d probably be eager about the monstrous tip you anticipate the millionaire would leave you.
We hate to break it to you, but you’d be disappointed. Ray is ranked one of the worst celebrity tippers by hospitality professionals she’s encountered. We compiled the four best and four worst celebrity tippers — and compared their less-than-stellar tips to their high net worth.
The best include Justin Bieber, Jim Carrey, and Drew Barrymore
We knew the Biebs was a good guy at heart. The Globe and Mail revealed that Bieber took Selena Gomez on a breakfast date to IHOP in 2012 (we have a lot of questions about his restaurant choice, but whatever) and left the server a 200% tip. He and Gomez racked up a $30 bill and Bieber reportedly paid the tab, leaving a generous $90 tip for their server. We’re glad Bieber paid it forward with the gratuity (even if it was just to impress his date) considering his net worth exceeds $200 million.
Lucky for anyone who waits on her, Drew Barrymore understands the importance of a good tip. She’s made a name for herself as one of Hollywood’s most generous tippers. Actress Ana Ortiz revealed that she served Barrymore back when Ortiz was a bartender in NYC. Barrymore visited Ortiz’s pub twice and tipped 100% on both occasions.
