Although working in entertainment can result in a big payday, some years are more lucrative than others. Some of the most popular entertainers make a lot of money, but there are lean times now and then.

Billboard recently came out with its list of the highest-paid musicians. But how much do some of the stars at the bottom of this list make? Here are the 10 lowest-paid musicians of 2018, according to Billboard.

10. Elton John

  • Earnings: $11.4 million

Elton John earned $11.4 million last year. In 2017, he made $625,000 from album sales, $696,000 from streaming music sales, $278,000 from publishing, and $9.8 million from touring. John made much of his money from touring. In 2017 he had 739,000 song downloads and 357 million music streams.

9. Ariana Grande

  • Earnings: $11.36 million

Ariana Grande earned $11.36 million last year. In 2017, she made $405,000 from album sales, $1.5 million from streaming music sales, $151,000 from publishing, and $9.4 million from touring. Grande is one of 20 artists on Billboard’s list to top 1 billion on-demand streams in 2017.

8. Janet Jackson

  • Earnings: $11.34 million

Janet Jackson earned $11.34 million last year. In 2017, she made $141,000 from album sales, $344,000 from streaming music sales, $6,000 from publishing, and $10.9 million from touring. Most of Jackson’s earnings were from her live shows. However, her 2017 on-demand streaming numbers were low, at just 159.5 million for the year.

7. Twenty One Pilots

  • Earnings: $11 million

Twenty One Pilots earned $11 million last year. In 2017, the band made $1.2 million from album sales, $2 million from streaming music sales, $2.7 million from publishing, and $5.1 million from touring. Last year, Twenty One Pilots spent time producing the forthcoming album Trench, which will be released in October 2018. That year, the group had the second-highest number of music streams for a rock band, at 1.8 billion.

6. Sam Hunt

  • Earnings: $10.7 million

Sam Hunt earned $10.7 million last year. In 2017, he made $752,000 from album sales, $1.3 million from streaming music sales, $1.4 million from publishing, and $7.3 million from touring. That year, Hunt’s big hit was “Body Like a Back Road.” The song, which reached the No. 17 spot on the On Demand Streaming Songs chart, helped Hunt become one of three country artists who topped 1 billion streams for 2017, reports Billboard.

5. Chris Brown

  • Earnings: $9.8 million

Chris Brown earned $9.8 million last year. In 2017, he earned $475,000 from album sales, $2.6 million from streaming music sales, $361,000 from publishing, and $6.4 million from touring. The group had 1.2 billion streams and 1 million song downloads. Brown had a total of 2.4 billion audio and video streams, which was the seventh-highest on Billboard’s list.

4. Panic! at the Disco

  • Earnings: $9.4 million

Panic! at the Disco earned $9.4 million last year. In 2017, the group earned $1 million in album sales, $1.4 million from streaming music sales, $1.1 million from publishing, and $5.9 million from touring. The group had 1.2 billion streams and 1 million song downloads.

3. Taylor Swift

  • Earnings: $9.3 million

Taylor Swift earned $9.3 million last year. In 2017, she earned $5 million in album sales, $2.4 million from streaming music sales, and $2 million from publishing. Swift had the most album sales of 2017. The singer sold 2.2 million units and had 2.8 million track downloads and more than 2 billion streams.

2. Def Leppard

  • Earnings: $9.2 million

Def Leppard earned $9.2 million last year. In 2017, they earned $502,000 in album sales, $167,000 from streaming music sales, $299,000 from publishing, and $8.2 million from touring. Def Leppard ended 2017 with the second-lowest on-demand total for Billboard’s list. Last year, the band sold 200,000 album copies from its catalog.

1. The Chainsmokers

  • Earnings: $9.1 million

The Chainsmokers earned $9.1 million last year. In 2017, they earned $1.5 million in album sales, $2.5 million from streaming music sales, $1.4 million from publishing, and $3.7 million from touring. The Chainsmokers ended 2017 with 3.5 million downloads (the fourth-highest number of music downloads that year), and an impressive 2.1 billion streams, reports Billboard.
