McDonald’s Must Challenge Yum, JPMorgan’s Proposal

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM): Technicolor received a proposal by Jesper Cooperatief U.A., on the morning of June 8th, to amend the contracts entered into by it and Vector Capital on May 2. The latter filed resolutions on May 25th, to be submitted to the General Shareholders’ Meeting to be held on June 20. Technocolor’s Board of Directors of Technicolor met the same day to review the Amended Proposal, under which JPMorgan proposed to raise the subscription price of the shares to be issued under the reserved capital increase to € 1.9 from € 1.9 per share, so that the total capital increase proceeds would have been amounted to a range of € 169 million and € 179 million.

McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE:MCD) announces that its May same-store sales fell 1.7 percent in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific regions, according to Bloomberg. This is the largest slide since around 2004, and occurs as the economy in China decelerates. The situation compels both McDonald’s and Yum Brands (NYSE:YUM) to offer less-expensive choices on their menus, says Steve West at ITG Investment Research in St. Louis.
