Microsoft Buys Wind Energy in Texas and 2 Other Dow Movers to Watch

Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT): Current price $35.79

Microsoft announced Monday that it signed a 20-year power purchase arrangement for wind energy in Texas. In a blog, the firm said the agreement was part of its commitment made in 2012 to become carbon neutral, and that it will purchase all of the energy from RES Americas’s 110-megawatt Keechi wind project, now under development near Jacksboro, some 70 miles northwest of Fort Worth, Texas. RES Americas is a division of the privately held, United Kingdom-based renewable energy developer RES Ltd. RES will commence construction of Keechi early next year and will begin delivering power in 2015.


Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT): Current price $83.52

In a regulatory filing on Friday, Caterpillar reported that federal prosecutors in California are probing its subsidiary Progress Rail Services Corp. for potential breaches of environmental law and other alleged improper business practices. Caterpillar said in the filing that its subsidiary was served a grand jury subpoena on October 24 from the United States District Court for the Central District of California. The United States Attorney’s Office in the district told Progress Rail that it is a target of a criminal investigation connected with the subpoena.


AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T): Current price $36.28

AT&T announced Monday that it will offer Amber Alert GPS, which is a communication and location device that keeps parents in touch with their kids. The device is a locator linked with AT&T’s 3G network, permitting parents to communicate with their children. Weighing 1.5 ounces, children can carry it in a pocket or backpack, in addition to several other attachment options. The device contains two-way voice calling and other features.
