Microsoft Debuts CityNext and 2 Other Dow Movers to Watch

At the Worldwide Partner Conference on Wednesday, Microsoft Corp. announced CityNext, a worldwide initiative the company says will enables cities, businesses, and citizens to re-imagine their futures and grow vibrant communities. Microsoft CityNext will offer cities a broad and diverse Microsoft Partner Network of more than 430,000 technology experts around the planet to innovate and create a better future, the tech giant said.
Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ): Current price $50.75
On Wednesday, Canadian wireless startup Mobilicity said it is in talks with more than one party in connection with a potential acquisition. The struggling company, legally known as Data & Audio-Visual Enterprises Holdings Inc., is in discussions with Verizon, among others, according to a Reuters source. The source also said Verizon has made an offer for the rival Canadian telecom startup Wind Mobile as it explores potential growth outside the United States. Analysts believe that for a relatively small chunk of cash, the potential purchases would permit Verizon to move into Canada’s high-margin wireless business, putting the company in a good position before a government auction of spectrum.

UTC Aerospace Systems engineer Eileen Arnold was chosen by the International Council on Systems Engineering as a fellow due to her outstanding contributions to the worldwide art and practice of systems engineering, a press release by the company said. UTC Aerospace Systems is a division of United Technologies Corp. Arnold was cited for her leadership and contributions in setting up INCOSE’s Expert Systems Engineering Professional credential and industry promotion of systems engineering.
