McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) posts July domestic comparable sales down 0.1 percent, while the same in Europe fell 0.6 percent. Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa were down by 1.5 percent.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) wants to reinforce its design teams for next-generation Surface devices, according to CNet. The source of this news is the many job posts on Microsoft’s career page; several postings say “The Surface Team focuses on building devices that fully express the Windows vision.”
AT&T, Inc. (NYSE:T) is among communications firms that executed moves that gave some relief to Deutsche Telekom’s (DTEGY) T-Mobile USA by reducing handset subsidies to increase profitability, according to Bloomberg. Another firm successfully making the cuts was Verizon Wireless (VZ, VOD). T-Mobile was able to improve earnings in the second quarter, sources say, even though it did lose subscribers during the past year. In the meantime, Verizon revealed on Tuesday that there exist five additional data tiers over and above the six tiers reported with its Share Everything plans earlier in the summer. A company spokeswoman said that the new top tier costs $150 per month for 20 gigabytes.
