Nokia Dominates Mobile Web Usage

Finnish smartphone maker Nokia (NYSE:NOK) is not only the top dog globally in terms of shipments and market share, but now also leads the pack when it comes to mobile web browsing, Engadget said, citing a StatCounter report.

The latest report from StatCounter shows that about 40 percent of mobile browsing in the world is done on Nokia handsets. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) comes in second at around 29 percent, and Samsung trails with a share of about 14 percent.

However, use of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android OEMs makes up slightly less than 25 percent of the world’s mobile browsing, and Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) accounts for only 8.3 percent, although in the United Kingdom it is still second only to Apple, according to the report.¬†Worldwide mobile web usage has nearly doubled every year since 2009, the report said.
