Nokia Dominates Mobile Web Usage

Finnish smartphone maker Nokia (NYSE:NOK) is not only the top dog globally in terms of shipments and market share, but now also leads the pack when it comes to mobile web browsing, Engadget said, citing a StatCounter report.

The latest report from StatCounter shows that about 40 percent of mobile browsing in the world is done on Nokia handsets. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) comes in second at around 29 percent, and Samsung trails with a share of about 14 percent.

However, use of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android OEMs makes up slightly less than 25 percent of the world’s mobile browsing, and Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) accounts for only 8.3 percent, although in the United Kingdom it is still second only to Apple, according to the report. Worldwide mobile web usage has nearly doubled every year since 2009, the report said.
