QUALCOMM Acquires Assets and 4 Chip and Big Data Stocks on the Move
Broadcom Corp. (NASDAQ:BRCM) announced that an ex-dividend date of November 20, 2012 along with a cash dividend payment of $0.1 per share, which is scheduled for December 10, 2012. Those shareholders who purchased BRCM stock before its ex-dividend date are eligible to obtain the cash dividend payment, marking the 4th quarter that BRCM paid the same dividend. At its current stock price of $30.29, the dividend yield has reached 1.32 percent.
QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm, has acquired some assets of EPOS Development, which develops ultrasound technologies for input solutions, that includes pen, stylus, and gesture recognition…The acquired assets are expected to continue strengthening and differentiating Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor, which creates unique experiences for smartphones, tablets and e-readers, according to the company. EPOS team members joining Qualcomm are expected to be integrated into Qualcomm Israel’s R&D team, and it will be focused on the delivery of new mobile device and service capabilities. The EPOS technology is based on the digital transmission of ultrasonic waves, which allows precise tracking by a receiver allowing various applications.

ARM Holdings plc (NASDAQ:ARMH): The European Union has begun to build a high-performance computing industry as a way to challenge US dominance, but it is not interested in playing catch-up. It hopes that it will be able to leapfrog, and it is trying to decide if ARM Holdings technology has the ability to give it that edge. The Barcelona Supercomputing Centre has begun use of the ARM-based Samsung Exynos 5 Dual processor to construct a supercomputer. This is the same processor available in Samsung’s new 229 Great British Pound Chromebook. ARM licenses processor designs to chipmakers, and the chip that is produced by Samsung for the Chromebook is satisfactory regarding what the Barcelona centre ultimately hopes it can see in this chip. Hopefully, this will build a supercomputer just large enough to make its way to the Top 500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers by next year’s conclusion. It is to be used as a prototype.

(NYSE:RAX) has announced that Rackspace Services for SharePoint, which is a complete end-to-end SharePoint solution delivering design, development, support, and training services. “Since the early days of our SharePoint offering in 2008, we have worked closely with customers, designing, building and supporting complex, production scale SharePoint solutions for their businesses ,” stated Jeff DeVerter, Rackspace’s Director of SharePoint Support. “Our end-to-end service model extends Fanatical Support for SharePoint, providing application layer support and professional services to help businesses better utilize SharePoint within their organization,” he added.
EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) has announced that Sekisui Diagnostics, which manufactures innovative medical diagnostic solutions, has standardized on EMC® technologies as a way to begin using a brand-new data center infrastructure in about three months as part of its divesture from Genzyme Corporation. Sekisui Diagnostics has chosen EMC VNX® over NetApp and Dell storage as a means to more efficiently and easily manage quick business growth, as it improves response time for IT requests. Sekisui has also begun to use EMC Avamar® for its centralized backup and recovery solution, as it ends its previous requirement to deploy backup hardware at all of its sites. Tight integration between VNX and VMware allowed Sekisui to gain its 90 percent virtualized environment via the use of VMware® vSphere™, which allows it to provision new virtual machines in minutes.
