The push for open hardware is getting stronger as the Open Compute Project has signed on a number of new commitments and projects from some of Silicon Valley’s largest companies. Facebook, Intel Corporation, and AMD are just a few of the heavyweights bringing more to the open hardware table.

intcQUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM): Current price $64.83

According to the China Daily, Qualcomm Incorporated’s Chief Executive Officer, Paul Jacobs, said they anticipate that they will see more intense competition in China in 2013. Chinese customers have the most diversified requirements for smartphones in a number of areas, the newspaper quoted Jacobs as saying.

ARM Holdings PLC. (NASDAQ:ARMH): Current price $40.98

Bernstein Research analyst Pierre Ferragu has lowered his rating on microprocessor IP licensing company ARM Holdings from Market Perform to Underperform with a price target of 5.50 British pounds ($8.82), a figure which is about 35% below the stock’s recent level.

Rackspace Hosting, the open cloud company, announced that they have climbed to 34th place on Fortune Magazine’s annual list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.” Fortune has named Rackspace as one of America’s top workplaces in five of the last six years.

raxEMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC): Current price $24.16

Attunity Ltd. announced that EMC Greenplum (NYSE:EMC) has officially qualified Attunity RepliWeb for Enterprise File Replication, or EFR, and Attunity Managed File Transfer, or MFT, with EMC Greenplum Hadoop, or GD HD. Attunity RepliWeb for EFR and Attunity MFT were designed as high-performance, easy-to-use solutions for automating, managing and accelerating the process of making data available for Big Data Analytics with Hadoop. The Attunity products, launched earlier this year, are the first and only solutions currently qualified by EMC for Greenplum HD.
