Shares in RealD (NYSE:RLD) are trading 3.7 percent higher today after the recent re-issuance of Disney’s (NYSE:DIS) The Lion King. The movie reignited the 3-D market and has earned the company $61.7 million since its Sept. 16 return to the cinema.
Industry leaders have been bullish on the 3-D movie market after James Cameron’s Avatar saw $2.8 billion in profits. In 2012, movie studios will release 39 3-D films, an increase from the 36 in 2011 and 2010’s 23 films.
RealD’s stock (NYSE:RLD) is up 3.78% to $11.27 on the news. Shares are down 56.56% year to date. The stock has traded in a 52-week range between $9.47 and $35.60.
