The young stars of the Teen Mom series often make headlines for their antics. Whether it’s a big fight, a breakup, or another bundle of joy, it’s hard not to be somewhat familiar with the girls on the show. One behavior you might hear about is the way they spend money. For some cast members, fame has clouded their thinking, resulting in poor money choices.

Here are the ridiculous things Teen Mom stars waste their money on.

Heroin and marijuana

Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans has had significant trouble with drug addiction. Evans has been arrested for heroin and marijuana possession in the past. Despite these arrests, she admitted to spending hundreds of dollars each day on drugs, reports Daily Mail. Back in 2013, she admitted on her Twitter account that she spent $400 a day on drugs.

It seems like horses are quite popular among the Teen Mom bunch. Farrah Abraham, Leah Messer, and Teen Mom UK’s Megan Salmon-Ferrari all bought horses. Salmon-Ferrari received a lot of backlash about her horse purchase because she was living in a hostel. One viewer went on Twitter and criticized the teen mom, saying her “priorities are all wrong.”

Ryan Edwards, the ex-boyfriend of Maci Bookout and husband to Mackenzie Standifer, allegedly has an expensive drug habit. His wife claims he spends $10,000 a week to get his drug fix. Edwards had a recent brush with the law related to his drug use. Earlier in 2018, he was arrested for violating his probation related to heroin possession, reports US Weekly. He was later released on a $5,000 bond.

The cast of Teen Mom OG, Teen Mom 2, and Teen Mom 3 are under a tremendous amount of pressure to look good. So, it’s no surprise some of the cast members have turned to plastic surgeons for help.

One cast member who has gotten tons of work done is Farrah Abraham. In 2012, she had nose and chin implants. She later had three breast augmentation procedures. Abraham also admits to having a lip filler procedure. In Touch Weekly reports the nose and chin surgeries cost roughly $16,000. Her 2012 breast augmentation cost $5,000.

Mackenzie Standifer allegedly has an unhealthy shopping habit. After a tense episode on the show, where Mackenzie is showing her husband, Ryan, all the clothes she recently purchased, Redditors are speculating Mackenzie might be blowing serious cash on her clothing. Ryan was understandably upset about the new purchases. Making matters worse, he was met with silence after questioning Mackenzie about the cost of her shopping spree.

During her appearance on Teen Mom 2, it became evident Leah Messer had a problem with responsible money management. Although she has had serious financial issues, she continued to spend a lot of money. During one episode, there was tension between her and her husband at the time, Jeremy Calvert, after it was revealed she spent a significant amount of cash—roughly $2,000—on Mary Kay products, reports Wet Paint.

The stars of Teen Mom get paid for their appearance on the show. Some of the highest-paid stars are Amber Portwood, Maci Bookout, and Farrah Abraham. Portwood makes as much as $500,000 per year. Bookout is also paid close to half a million dollars. Abraham’s partnership with MTV was terminated, but she went after the network in a $5 million lawsuit for wrongful termination and gender discrimination.
