SAP Open to Licensing HANA to Rival Oracle…

SAP (NYSE:SAP) co-chief executive Bill McDermott said in an interview published Monday that the company would be willing to license its HANA product to arch rival Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL). In a somewhat oblique swipe at Oracle, he said “that would be possible. The question is whether Oracle can imagine it.”

HANA is software that allows businesses to quickly analyze and interpret large volumes of data. The product has been a money spinner for SAP in its 2011 fourth quarter.

McDermott expansively went on to say, “But seriously: a technological platform is not a real platform if it were not open to partners and even competitors. Partners like Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO), Dell (NASDAQ:DELL), Fujitsu or Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) already work with our HANA technology. We are open to everything.”
